Before we move on to the examples, let's remind ourselves of the writing convention in Arabic. Since the letters we introduced do not join on the left, we only need to remember to start from the right and place letters close to each other and position them on the line as we saw earlier.
Now, you notice two sets (non-real) words: the ones on the right use short vowels and those on the left have long vowels (both in red). Click the audio icon in front (to the left!) of each word in the pair and notice the difference (and similarity, of course). You may need to repeat this practice a number of time till you feel comfortable. Then, it's your turn to try to pronounce them correctly.
